84 Scorpion New Guy

 hello I am seriously looking at a 1984 CC Scorpion 311 any help would be greatly appreciated in what to check out on these boats ,I  can buy it cheap enough to do some repairs if needed and have some experience at hobby level,

Jim,

Welcome to the group!hull

On the older Stingers, you will want to check both the transom and stringers for any sign of weakness, moisture, or rot.  Also, check along the rubrail for any signs of damage - I've heard that the hull to deck connection may be weak on the 311s/313s.  The following might help you out:  http://chriscraftstingers.com/gallerypage.php?gallerydir=Bad%20Example.

If you know the engine/gearbox/sterndrive combination i can give you the items to check on the mechanical  parts of the boat
