I have had my 1986 stinger 222 (bracketed 225 3.0 efi mariner) for almost 3 years now with out being able to register it due to an issue with the title. over the last few weeks, I have finally got the title squared away and it is legally, titled and registered to me.
I run the boat at the house every month just to keep her moving. One day last year, I put it in the water to test run her. It went well, a little break up at high RPMs (5200ish) but the fuel is of unknown age. But the boat ran good, 23" prop, 46mph at 5200 full tank of fuel and 3 people on board. The fuel in the boat is at least 4 years if not older.
This year, I cant even get her onto plane, she struggles to get over 3000 rpms. I switched over to my 21" prop, only to gain about 500 rpms.
Changed out the fuel filter, no change. Gass looks pretty dark though. Little darker than apple juice.
My next step will be to put my 3 gal tank onto the motor with fresh gas and see how she responds.
I figure that I will try that before I go through the exercise of draining and refilling boats 60 gallon tank that is over 3/4 full.
