A fellow OSO member came up with a staggered 390 Scorpion. I posted pics on OSO http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/chris-craft/296957-need-help-v-i-n-speed-39-scorpion-2.html
Interesting, this the only staggered Chris Craft I have seen.

It's hard to tell from the pictures - how is it setup staggered? Is on engine inline with the other or slightly offset?

Engines are placed on narrow centers one in front of the other.

In this pic the starboard engine is shown, the port engine is under the hatch at right and placed in front of the other.
Staggered set ups are faster, have less drag and more balance as weight is more towards center. In image 1289 above you can see the exhaust pipe from the port engine as it bends around the starboard engine.

Very interesting setup - it looks like the sundeck has been lengthened as well to accommodate the engines in that setup. Wondering what the story was behind it - i.e. who did the mods.

Wow that's quite a job!
The upostry looks great and the day-bed would be comfortable, but my only concern would be the cross stringer would have to have been cut and moved up. This would cause excessive stress behind that crosmember to the transom. I hope extra strength was placed in the floor stringers under the engines?
I do admit it would be much more pleasant to work on the engines in the bay in a staggered position than side by side!

Thats a factory setup, probably custom ordered. I think those were merc 400's or 420s.
